ABOUT ME

My name is Whitney (or Whit Whit); I am a documentary Director/Editor and photographer. My films focus on the wonder, softness, and hidden gems of our world. I truly believe everyone has a story to tell - they just need to be asked to share. In my photography, I gravitate towards the beauty in the mundane and the small frames that create a person.

Early inspirations include MTV’s “True Life”, Harriet the Spy, and watching my grandma fall in love with photography later in life. My Letterboxd four are The Sound of Music, Interstellar, Hamnet, and Paris is Burning.

Over the past decade, I have worked and collaborated with film studios, media companies, and non-profits such as the two-time Academy Award® winning Breakwater Studios, Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad, Patrisse Cullors’ Abolitionist Entertainment, YouTube, LA Times Short Docs, New York Times Op-Docs, The Sundance Institute, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Interloper Films, and Women In Film.

FESTIVAL & SCREENING HIGHLIGHTS: SXSW, BlackStar Film Festival, Camden International Film Festival. AFI DOCS, Frameline, Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival, Hollyshorts. The Leslie Lohman Museum, The Fowler at UCLA, The Crenshaw Dairy Mart, Neuehouse: Hollywood, American Film Showcase tour South Africa
